Depth maps are one of the most basic sources of information about bodies of water but most are out-of-date or inaccurate. Digital Bathymetrics’ maps are technologically advanced and can be delivered in formats that fit your needs. Our maps have been used to determine rates of accumulation of marine sediments, for lake management, analyses of wind and shore erosion, lake design and planning, fish habitat, and have been published in scientific peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Anthony and Downing, 2003, Lake &-Reservoir-Management. 19(1): 1-14). Most existing maps of aquatic resources are old and were created with outmoded and inaccurate methods. Even most of the maps that are digitized into GPS units were made using plane-tables and handlines decades ago. Without good maps of lakes and rivers, it is impossible to correctly assess aquatic habitats or make accurate projections of water quality changes under altered loading. Without timely and accurate mapping services, it is impossible to assess the removal of material from flooded quarries or changes in navigation channels. At Digital Bathymetrics, we use state-of-the-art methods that can map the most complex habitats, from small ponds to large lakes and coastal zones.
